Yuksom

Yuksom, located in the western part of the Indian state of Sikkim, is a small town nestled in the Himalayas. It is known as the 'Gateway to Khangchendzonga', the third highest peak in the world. Yuksom is famous for its natural beauty, picturesque landscapes, trekking trails, and historical significance.The town was the first capital of Sikkim and is home to many important religious and cultural sites, including the Dubdi Monastery, the first monastery built in Sikkim. It is also the starting point for the Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, one of the most popular treks in the region. The trek is known for its stunning views of the Himalayan mountain range, including Kanchenjunga, and the diverse flora and fauna that can be seen along the way.

Yuksom is also home to several beautiful waterfalls, including the Khecheopalri Lake, which is considered to be a sacred lake by both Buddhists and Hindus. The lake is surrounded by dense forests and is home to many species of birds, making it a popular spot for birdwatching.
