Pemayangtse Monastery

In Gyalshing, Sikkim, India, there is a Buddhist monastery called Pemayangtse Monastery. One of Sikkim's most respected lamas, Lama Lhatsun Chempo, constructed it in the 18th century. The monastery, a prominent tourist destination in the area, is regarded as one of Sikkim's oldest and most significant monasteries. 

Pemayangtse is a Tibetan name that translates to 'complete magnificent lotus', a significant Buddhist emblem. The monastery, which is located at an elevation of 6,840 feet, provides beautiful views of the mountains and valleys in the area.The monastery is a three-story building with a prayer hall on the ground floor, living accommodations for the monks on the second floor, and a massive statue of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, on the top floor. Intricate murals and sculptures that represent diverse episodes from Buddhist mythology decorate the prayer hall. Ancient Buddhist texts and artifacts are also kept in the monastery.
