
Kartok Lake
A high altitude lake, Kartok Lake is situated about 5,000 feet above sea level. The lake is nourished by various mountain streams that fall into it and is bordered by beautiful green trees. The lake is a well-liked destination for photographers and environment enthusiasts because of the gorgeous reflection of the mountains and trees in its crystal-clear waters.The well-maintained walking routes around the lake allow visitors to stroll in solitude while admiring the natural beauty of the area. Visitors may see a variety of bird species in the region and the lake is an excellent place to go bird watching.
The spiritual value of the region is further enhanced by the presence of a modest temple next to the lake. Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is a respected Buddhist guru who is credited with introducing Buddhism to the Himalayan area. The temple is devoted to him. When the weather is nice and the surroundings are at their greenest, during the months of March and May is the ideal time to visit Kartok Lake. There is no entrance fee and the lake is free to guests all day. Ultimately, Kartok Lake is a serene and picturesque location that should not be missed by anybody who wants to experience Sikkim's natural beauty and spiritual importance.
