Saramsa Garden

Garden

A charming botanical garden called Saramsa Garden may be found near Pakyong, a tiny settlement in Sikkim, India's East region. The garden is located 14 kilometers from Gangtok, the state capital, on the banks of the river Rani Khola.

There are many different exotic flowers, plants, and trees in the garden, which spans an area of around 14 acres. The garden is home to a variety of well-liked plants, such as orchids, rhododendrons, magnolias, cactus, and succulents. The garden also has a sizable collection of herbs, spices, and medicinal plants that are frequently employed in conventional Sikkimese medicine.

The Brits first constructed Saramsa Garden in the early 20th century as a study facility for exotic plant species. The garden was transformed into a public park following India's independence, and it has since grown to be a well-liked tourist destination in Sikkim.

In addition to its amazing floral displays, the garden features a sizable picnic space, a playground, and a small museum that explores Sikkim's history and culture. A tiny café is also present, serving snacks and drinks.

While the flowers are in full bloom, between March and May is the ideal time to visit Saramsa Garden. The garden is accessible to tourists every day from 9 am to 5 pm for a small entrance charge.

Away from the bustle of the city, Saramsa Garden is often a tranquil and beautiful spot to visit. It is a wonderful opportunity to rest and unwind in the midst of the beauty of nature while also learning more about Sikkim's rich flora and fauna.
