
Ngadak Monastery
The monastery provides breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains from its high location above the Rangit River. The monastery is one of the oldest in Sikkim and is said to have been constructed in the 17th century. For Buddhists, it is a very important place of worship, and people from all over the world travel there to pray and seek blessings. Nagdak Monastery structure combines Sikkimese and Tibetan design elements. The monastery contains a sizable prayer hall where guests may see Buddhist ceremonies and teachings being performed. The paintings and frescoes that decorate the prayer hall's walls reflect Lord Buddha's life and teachings.
The stone carving of Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, which is located on a rock next to the Monastery entrance, is one of Nagdak Monastery distinctive characteristics. The carving, which is regarded as a priceless cultural treasure and is thought to have been created in the 17th century. Visitors may take a quick hike up to the monastery from Namchi town, or they can go simply by road to Nagdak Monastery. There are a number of guesthouses and homestays in the region where tourists may stay and learn about the customs and culture of the locals.
