Good news for Trek lovers as Uttarakhand Tourism would allow trekkers to scale the famous glaciers in Kumaon region from April 15th to June 15. The trekking expedition is allowed for Pindari, Kafni and Sunderdhunga glaciers.
Organizers had started preparations for trekkers to scale with all necessary facilities. Rest houses, emergency exits, easy trek facilities are some of them. A bridge is being constructed over the Pinda River originating from Pindari glacier. After two years of pandemic, the reopening of trekking has created a positive sigh among local trekking industry & associated people. With Covid restrictions ease & less fear of virus spread, region is expecting high influx of trekkers.
Pindari Glacier Trek is one of the most popular glacier treks because of its less difficult level. Trekking to a height of 12,300 feet above the sea level receives majority of tourists. Pre-Covid data lies between 2800-3000 average trekkers per year.
As per the officials, the inline registration facility will begin soon to register before undertaking the glacier trek. The treks will open for 2 months and then again get closed in monsoons. It may get open form September 15 depending upon climate.
