Revamping Lonar Lake: A Project of INR 370 Crore Approved

Lonar Lake in Maharashtra is about to see a throng of people thanks to the government-approved project to increase tourism.

One of the ancient natural creations, Lonar Lake in Maharashtra is a unique spot. This lake came into existence 50,000 years ago when a meteorite struck this place in the Pleistocene Epoch or the ‘Great Ice Age. The crater born out of this event is Lonar Lake today in Maharashtra.

Another exceptional trait of this lake is that it is one of only four known craters in basaltic rock on Earth. The saline lake got global attention as well when miraculously the water started turning pink, later conclusive cause thought of being microbiological activities which cause a reaction for the color change.

A project of INR 370 crores has been set in action for the conservation and preservation of this National Geo-heritage Monument. The project previously proposed by the former Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, after his visit to the location, was for an amount of INR 200 crores which now has been increased by the current Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. After a thorough overview, a green signal has been received by the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.

The money will be utilized to manage and maintain the surrounding forests and wildlife to protect its biodiversity. The area also features an old temple which is said to be renovated under the project costs. A walkway will be set up for tourists, trekkers, and the crowd who venture here for safe and easy access to the lake. It also will act as a way to stop trespassers and encroachers from continuously bombarding the lovely location.

Ultimately, this one-of-a-kind spot will be revamped for the better as tourists and people alike will get to know about an almost forgotten location of natural wonder. Capture some memorable moments as you explore one of the best places in India.
