Nagaland to Welcome Its Second Ever Railway Station after A 100 Years Pause

Recent events include the completion of a new facility at Shokhuvi, which gives Nagaland its second railway station after a hiatus of more than 100 years. The state's primary commercial district is home to the 1903 opening of Dimapur Railway Station.

The Donyi Polo Express, which once ran every day between Guwahati in Assam and Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh, was flagged off by CM Neiphiu Rio, according to the most recent sources. Now that Shokhuvi, which is only a few kilometers from Dimapur is now included in the railway service, it has been expanded even more.

Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland will now have a direct rail connection, according to sources, with the expansion of the Donyi Polo Express to Shokhuvi Railway Station. In reference to this, the Chief Minister said that today is historic for Nagaland since it marks the return of passenger service to the state's second railway terminal on the Dhansari-Shokhuvi railway line after a hiatus of more than a century.

Further requesting that the Dimapur Railway Station have its fair share of development so that it can continue to serve not just the residents of Nagaland but also those in the surrounding Assamese regions, the Chief Minister of Railways made the plea.

Anshul Gupta, General Manager of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), adding that it is a proud occasion for Indian Trains and the NFR, which is working hard to connect all of the northeastern states' capitals with railways in a timely manner.

Moreover, the foundation stone for the 90-kilometer-long wide gauge railway from Dhansiri in Assam to Zubza in Nagaland's Kohima region was set in 2016 for which work is in progress, and the deadline has been pushed back from 2020 to 2024. Gupta went on to say that the line will be extended all the way to Aizawl through New Kohima and Imphal.
