Ecotourism will be the focus of attention in 13 areas of Odisha to aid with tourism and development in the state.
To promote ecotourism in the state, Odisha is getting ready to build 13 new locations. Ten of the locations have been considered eco-resorts, and three will be accessible as environmental encampments for visitors who are just there for the day.
The local communities will be more actively involved in the field of hospitality and site upkeep as a result of this new eco-tourism initiative. The goal is to provide the local communities a chance to use this as a source of income, improve site management, and preserve both the natural environment and indigenous knowledge.

It is no surprise that protecting the environment has always had positive effects on everyone, but notably on the local communities. There are also discussions about establishing eco-tourism communities where it is feasible.
New eco-cabins will be constructed as part of the new project in the following locations: Kotia and Deomali hilltop in Koraput; Jakam in Kalahandi; Nawana in Simlipal; Silviculture garden in Phulbani; Muhana Muhana (Astaranga) in Puri; Khadakhai dam in Rairangpur; Mahendragiri (Ganjam) in Berhampur; and Kanjipani Ghat and Hadagarh dam in Keonjhar forest division.

Odisha will soon feature a total of 63 eco-retreats and nature camps, including the most recent 13. These eco-tourism destinations have been carefully planned. The state has also experienced an increase in the appeal of these eco-tourism areas, and the reaction has come not just from local visitors, but also from travelers from all over the country and the world.
The number of tourists to these eco-tourism areas is steadily increasing. Last year, 2021-2022, had the greatest number of tourists to these eco-tourism sites. The reason for the popularity is the blend of nature among knowledge and the integral history of the place.
