Here is good news for commuters from Rohtang Pass, Himachal as it will remain opened for entire week from now for vehicles movement. The spectacular Rohtang pass generally opens for six days in a week excluding Tuesdays for maintenance work. BRO keep it shut and vehicles are prohibited to enter beyond Gulaba on Tuesdays. But with the rising popularity of Atal tunnel and increasing influx of tourists in the region, tourism stakeholders kept a demand to open the highway on Tuesdays also.
A large number of vehicles are using Atal Tunnel that has helped in decongestion of Rohtang Pass route. Increasing temperature has seen a movement in tourists heading towards hill stations to have a respite from heat. In lieu of this, Rohtang Pass has opened earlier this year to compete with another states summer tourism.
The summer tourist season in Manali depends mainly on Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley. Opening early of the pass will help tourists to go for a smooth road trip and enjoy the summer vacation. The administration has removed the snow blocks form road from last 1 month to keep the area ready for tourist flow.
Earlier in the week, the education minister had visited to Rohtang Pass and inspected various facilities as parking arrangements, toilet facilities & drinking water facilities. Directives have given to SDM to ensure slow melting process of Rohtang pass as well as eco-friendly setup if parking for undisturbed nature & surroundings.
