The Park is one of its first kind in Kerala as a part of the state Government’s New Caravan Tourism Policy. It is all set to open for tourists from 25th February. Tourists’ caravans are designed specially by keeping luxury, pleasure and lodging in mind.
The concept was derived at the time of Pandemic when travellers want to travel with all safety compliances and facilities. As per State tourism Minister, after successful concept of Houseboats, Caravan Park is going to be major product launch in tourism Sector of Kerala. The Caravans are customized and well equipped with required amenities while travelling.
Caravan Tourism can create a notable space with few points:
- Parks developed in natural surroundings and completely safe zone
- Explore less explored area where you can stay within luxury caravan experiencing best of nature view
- The move will make tourism more sustainable and create employment opportunities for local communities
- The caravans will have complete sewage treatment plant that will help in not polluting the nature at all.
- Tourists can have new experiential tourism with village life experience, have a close look to daily chores of the villagers as Paddy field work, a fisherman’s hamlet or traditional industry
The “Keravan Kerala” is all set to emerge as a major segment of Kerala Tourism providing commercial opportunities for locals and Tour operators. It will be available as two models- Standalone project and hybrid package. In Hybrid Model, it will be a two-day activity where tourists can hop-on and hop-off. These will be operational for 24*7 in tourist season or on demand.
A caravan park will be a completely safe and secure zone offering hassle-free environment to tourists, and will be protected with necessary features like strong fencing, adequate security and safety arrangements, patrolling and surveillance cameras. The policy envisages comfort rooms for drivers in every caravan park, and stipulates that as soon as the caravan enters the park, the driver will hand over the vehicle key to the park management and proceed to the comfort rooms arranged exclusively for them.
The parks in hilly and ecologically fragile areas will have to incorporate creative architecture in conformity with local heritage. Caravan Parks can also be set up in plantations, properties of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) and local self-government institutions. (Source)
