The Rajasthan government is reviving the famed opulent train, Palace on Wheels, which is likely to set its rails this September according to Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC).
The chairman of RTDC, Mr. Dharmendra Rathore further stated that the corporation and the state government are arranging to run the convoy on a public-private association. Therefore, meetings have seen a surge to finalize the course of this decision. The government has also stated the importance of taking advantage of the vehicle on tracks as it is one of the most esteemed parts of Rajasthan’s Tourism.
The chairman disclosed these details in a meeting of delegates belonging to the association of Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR). The meeting was held at Paryatan Bhawan in Jaipur sometime ago to go over everything with the concerned authorities. The committal was driven by the President of FHTR, Mr. Apurv Kumar.
Due to the dawning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the rail had seen a closedown and experienced losses for a continuum of 2 years. Now, when the situation has improved a bit, the RTDC has decided to finally bring it back on track for the leisure, convenience, and memorable journey of tourists from all over the world.
Since 1982, the Palace on Wheels has been operated by RTDC in collaboration with Indian Railways. The carriages are named after the palaces of Rajasthan and follow an extensive route starting from Delhi and the last destination being Bharatpur and Agra. The interiors are decked with heritage charm while also providing modern amenities for the people traveling aboard.
Quite famous among foreigners, the return of this magnificent rail history will surely help Rajasthan support its tourism even more and invite economic gain for the future too.
