On Wednesday, September 27, the eagerly awaited helicopter service connecting Churachandpur in Manipur to Aizawl in Mizoram was officially launched. This initiative falls under the Ministry of Home Affairs, operating as part of the Government of India's Helicopter Service scheme dedicated to enhancing connectivity in the Northeastern states. The service began its operations at the Imphal International Airport in Manipur, marking a significant step toward improving accessibility and transportation options in the region.
In addition to the helicopter service launch, the Manipur state government has issued a notification regarding the fare for this newly established route. The fare from Churachandpur to Aizawl has been set at INR 4500, making the journey more affordable and accessible for travellers. Conversely, for the return trip from Aizawl to Churachandpur, the fare has been fixed at INR 6000. This pricing structure aims to provide a balanced and reasonable cost for the convenience and time-saving benefits that the helicopter service offers, ensuring it remains an attractive option for the residents and visitors of both regions.
This service, known as the Heli Service, which is part of a bigger plan for the northeastern states, is all set to boost connectivity between Manipur and Mizoram.
