From Vijay Chowk to India Gate in New Delhi, Central Vista Avenue will open to the general public on September 9 followed by inauguration on 8th September by PM Narendra Modi.

India Gate and Rajpath lawns are located along Central Vista Avenue. While updating the avenue, the Central Vista Avenue Refurbishment Project preserved its historic features. To make Central Vista Avenue more accessible and safe for everyone, new public facilities have been introduced. The space has been refurbished, making it appear broader, larger, cleaner, greener, and with many practical improvements.

IANS stated that a senior official with the Ministry of Urban Affairs said that 74 ancient light poles' chain links have all been refurbished, restored, and reinstalled. The precinct's historic character has also been preserved by replacing concrete bollards with 1,000 or more white sandstone ones, and pedestrian walkways along the Rajpath have been paved with strong and long-lasting materials.

In addition, 16.5 km of new pedestrian walkways have been constructed along the Rajpath, across the lawns, alongside and over the canals, and in the vicinity of India Gate. There are now 987 concrete bollards in place. Where appropriate, more than 900 additional light posts have been installed to guarantee that the area is always secure for visitors.

Rashtrapati Bhawan to India Gate is connected via Central Vista Avenue and is considered one of Delhi's most popular tourist attractions. The Republic Day parade and other ceremonial events that show off the country's capital to the outside world takes place on The Avenue. The 1.8 kilometers of renovated lawns and new amenities, which were constructed as part of the Rs 608 Crore project, were finished on Saturday. Construction on the project began on February 1 of last year.

By constructing bridges to connect the lawns on each side of the rebuilt canals, more open space has been made available to the public. In addition, the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the project's nodal agency, built four pedestrian underpasses to facilitate easy access between the lawns.

Along the red granite walks, there are more than 133 light posts, 4,087 trees, 114 pieces of contemporary signage, and terraced gardens. A government document states that there are about 900 light poles, including those in the gardens and along Rajpath between the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the India Gate. The project aims to restore the symmetry and order of the ancient buildings while preserving their historical relevance.

On Thursday, PM Modi will also open an exhibition showing the before and after photos of Central Vista Avenue. An audio-visual presentation will be made.

A significant milestone was the Center's announcement on Monday that Kartavya Path will be the new name given to the trail between Rajpath and Central Vista grounds. The decision was made with the intention of eradicating the last vestiges of the British colonial in the nation. The entire street and vicinity between the Netaji Statue and the Rashtrapati Bhavan are included in the Kartavya Path.

This new and exciting change will bring in more traffic to the place to reinstate the importance of these landmarks even more.
