Bikaner camel festival to start from 11th January

The Bikaner Camel Fair or Bikaner Camel Festival is an annual event hosted by the Department of Tourism, Art, and Culture in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Bikaner Camel Festival is held in January to honour the 'Ship of the Desert,' the Camel. When compared to other festivals in Rajasthan, this is one of the most well-known in Bikaner. The festival mostly features outstanding camel acts such as camel dances, camel races, and neck-shaking camel rides.

Every year, in the lovely weather of January, the Bikaner Camel Festival is held. In 2023, the activities begin on January 11th and end on January 12th. The best part about this festival is that it is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to join in on this colourful celebration.

The Camel Festival in Bikaner lasts two days. The celebrations begin with a colourful procession of elegantly decked camels against the imposing Junagarh Fort. Enjoy the magnificent demonstrations of camels adorned in colourful bridles, traditional necklaces, and hefty anklets performing fantastic footwork to charming sounds on desert dunes. Witness a variety of camel races, camel games, and other traditional displays. Hundreds of thousands of visitors and residents attend this annual celebration. Enjoy the wonderful ambience to the fullest.

Though the event is only designed to celebrate camels, traditional Rajasthani folk dance acts and music add much to the celebration's attractiveness. The enthralling Fire Dance adds glitz to the festivities. The atmosphere of the fair motivates fire dancers to produce spectacular performances.  The melodies of folk music are a calming experience that enchants everyone who hears it. The puppet shows are equally spectacular. The colourfully costumed puppet dolls tell interesting local stories. The event culminates with a stunning firework show that fills Bikaner's skies.

You might wish to explore some of Bikaner's other attractions after visiting the Camel Fair. Devi Kund is a group of cenotaphs that demonstrate an excellent combination of Rajputana and Islamic architectural traditions. Then there is the Junagarh Fort which is notable for the exquisite stone carvings that cover the red and yellow sandstones. Deshnok Karni Mata Temple is devoted to Karni Mata and is well-known for being the temple where rats are worshipped
