The new aerial ropeway inaugurated in Himachal by CM named as Dharamshala Skyway and will connect Dharamshala to Mcleodganj. It is said that it will help in reducing traffic congestion especially in time of peak tourist season. Besides its utility, it is new attraction for tourists to have the captivating views of towns. As per reports, it has the capacity of carrying 1000 persons every hour.
At the inauguration moment, CM Jai ram Thakur said that the project has been constructed at a cost of INR 207 crore and it has two stations and 10 towers. It has a length of around 1.8 kilometres. Among 2 stations, the top station is in front of the Dalai Lama Temple and developed on latest proven urban transport technology of Mono Cable Detachable Gondolas. This was a public-private partnership project started by Himachal Pradesh Tourism, Dharamshala Ropeway ltd, and Civil Aviation Department.

Till date, the tariff decided for travelling in ropeway is 300INR per person for one side while 500 INR for two-way routes. Travelling via Khara Danda Road takes around 21 minutes to travel between two popular hill stations. The rates are quite sceptical as per local residents.
As per sources, other ropeway projects are also in planning phase that will be developed in different states of India like Andhra Pradesh Gandikota and Karanataka Jog Falls.
