The famous 84 ghats of Varanasi will got an extension with addition of Namo Ghat showcasing a gesture of three folded hands at Ganga mainstream of the Khidkiya ghat.
Two 25 feet tall with one small namaste statues have been installed at the three promenades on the ghat. These three hands are paying salutation to Lord Sun and River Ganga. The redeveloped Ghat had been made at 34 crores INR cost and can act as a major tourist attraction in coming times.
As per the reports, PM Modi will inaugurate the Ghat for tourists soon as the development and installation is near to completion. There is also a proposal to install a similar 75 feet tall metal sculpture at the ghat. The ghat is being developed in large area of 21,000 square metre is constructed under PM vision of Make in India and Vocal for Local initiatives. Tourists of Varanasi can explore new dimensions of Ghat tour with open air cafeteria, yoga clubs, library and open cafeterias. The prime attraction of Varanasi tour can also be availed with Subeh-e-Banaras and participation in Ganga Aarti at evening.
The authority is going to develop it as multipurpose platform equipped with all modern facilities. There will be a linking of Ghat to Sugam Darshan facility at Kashi Vishwanath Dham with boat or jetty. Connected with air routes, more than 1 helicopters can land here and go for darshan of Baba Bholenath through water way without getting stucked in traffic. To keep Ganga pollution free, CNG boats are proposed with floating CNG station. Jetty facility can be used to travel nearby cities which will be an adventure and fun-filled ride on streams of Ganga.
The Ghat is only ghat that is devoted towards physically challenged people. Keeping them in mind, they can access the veneration at ghats directly from road to ghat through wheelchair.
To get developed in two phases, one phase has been completed and it is the only ghat connected with road, water & air route. Showcase of Indian spiritual and cultural row is purely visible with Surya Namaskar tradition. The barren Khidkiya Ghat get a new look with combination of traditional and modern thoughts.
