State tourism in Odisha is all set to launch Cruise services to revamp the tourism industry. The cruise tourism will include a luxury houseboat experience at five famous waterfronts- Chilika, Bhitarkanika, Hirakud, Chandrabhaga, and Satkosia.
To begin with, the first houseboat has been named Garuda which will start its operations from Chilika Lake and would offer the best stay experience to guests on the cruise. The tour packages designed are curated for tourists that will cover Bhitakanika National Park and adjacent areas of Gahirmatha Wildlife Sanctuary. The package will consist of an overnight stay along with full board meals, activities, and tours to different islands in Chilika.
The luxury houseboat facility is an initiative of Vikas Eco Resorts. As per reports, it will have two storeys, two suites, four premium rooms, bars, restaurants, and a meeting room with an open lobby. It will have a capacity of 40 people per boat. The cruising experience will enhance tourism in the state, The Odisha Government has also directed various departments to focus on enhancive measures for tourism in the state.
RIVER TOURISM: A STEP TO BOOST ODISHA TOURISM
On May 14, India conducted its first International Cruise conference where various sectors and states have given their valuable input. Odisha Tourism also took part in the conference to discussion on ‘Cruise Tourism: Success stories and Destination Development’.
Discussion on the latest initiatives and various benefits of river tourism in the state has been done. The state announced the launch of houseboats, floating restaurants, and catamarans as part of their plan.
To promote tourism, new nature camps and eco retreats are in the development phase with all facilities and aim to offer a complete experience for travelers. Odisha receives a number of tourists from neighboring states as Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.
