India’s Much-Awaited Navi Mumbai-Mumbai Water Taxi Service Launched

A city known for huge traffic and crowded local trains; Mumbai gets first water taxi service on 17th February, 2022 by Maharashtra Government. The new launched service will commence from the Domestic Cruise terminal and connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai within 45 minutes. 

This will also connect with tourist spots as Elephanta island, Nerul, Belapur and kanhoji Angra Isle to the mainland. A beautiful trip in leaser time will enthuse tourists very much.

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off the Jetty virtually while CM Uddhav Thackrey was on ground inauguration function of newly developed Jetty. The Belapur Jetty project was completed under Sagarmala Programme. The new initiative will provide some essence of relaxation to Mumbaikar from high urban congestion. 

Ticket Pricing & Schedule

According to government officials, four operators have been roped in for speedboats with a capacity of 10-30 passengers each and catamarans that can ferry 56 passengers as a means of mass transport, with a provision for monthly passes for regular commuters. Travellers can avail this service at 800-1200 INR per passenger with monthly pass facilities available too. The taxis will run form 8AM to 8 PM throughout the year excluding steep monsoon season. 


With different pricing on sharing or reserved basis, there are various pricing and rules for passengers for travelling in Water Taxi:
•    Passengers have to arrive 30 minutes before the departure time
•    Before departure, boarding gates will get closed 10 minutes prior
•    A valid ID proof is essential
•    Ticket will be available on the same date of travel and if any delay, no refund will be initiated. 
•    Life jackets are mandatory 
•    Any unsafe material or weapon are not allowed while travelling
•    Passengers can carry 10 Kg luggage, beyond those extra charges are applicable.
