The mesmerizing landscape of Ladakh is now closer than ever! The Ladakh Administration introduced the new way to travel to Ladakh by helicopters or choppers.
Helicopter Services have been introduced to the rocky and rugged terrain of Ladakh. It is welcoming news for many who have been unable to visit the city owing to physical limitations or apprehension about travelling through road routes.
This unexpected addition will boom the tourism even more of the Union Territory. The subsidized price of the tickets of the helicopters will be available for both the local residents and tourists from all over. The service currently is covering Leh, Drass, Kargil, Padum, Lingshed, Nyerak, and Zanskar. People now have convenient travel options for all these places. The services will be very helpful in medical or emergency situations as well.
Due to inaccessibility, some of these areas have suffered a lot due to not having many interactions with people outside the city. Things will slowly progress to a positive direction after tourism is revived with this potential decision by the Ladakh Administration.
Two kinds of choppers have been introduced to help with and implement this service. A five seater B-3 Chopper and a Mi-172 Chopper have been introduced. The administration has also warned about ticket-availability will depend highly on weather patterns, number of passengers and any limits on operations.
Some things to keep in mind are restrictions regarding weight on the chopper. Hence, people should co-operate with the staff. Also a valid photo ID proof is mandatory to carry along. Name changes, minuscule detail change, etc. are not practiced, hence, be very careful while booking a ticket.
It is advised to the general public to not take the chopper just after arriving in Leh. A 48-hour wait is suggested to help your body familiarize to the change of environments.
