First Batch of International Budhhist Travellers arrived at Kushinagar Airport, UP

After lifted restrictions on International Flights from 27th March, first batch of overseas group of Buddhist travellers arrived at Kushinagar Airport. The delegation is from Vietnam and led by Thich Duc Thein, VP and general Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. This is the first high profile international visit after the recently inaugurated Kushinagar International Airport in October’2021.

Upon arrival of special chartered flight, the monks received special welcome by legislative members of region at the airport. The team of Vietnammese and Thai Budhhists also contributed 1000 USD towards development of the airport.

The 3rd International Airport of state aims to provide facilities to Buddhist pilgrims all over the world & offer seamless connectivity. The Government has special focus on increasing Budhhist tourists as seven out of eight prominent Budhhist pilgrimage sites are in India. The Buddhist circuit includes Bodh Gaya, Vaishali, Rajgir, Kushinagar, Sarnath, Shravasti  and Lumbini in Nepal.
