On Tuesday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation requested that all airlines and airports consider playing Indian music throughout their flights and terminals. On December 23, the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) recommended that Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia boost Indian music on aircraft operated by Indian carriers.
The ministry issued a letter to all air service and airports on Monday declaring that music played by most airlines across the globe was in a model of the country to which the airline belongs. Indian airlines rarely play Indian music in flight, as our music has a rich cultural heritage, so every Indian has a reason for truthfully proud of it," the ministry noted.
Indian music spans a wide range of genres and forms, including classical music, folk music, light vocal music, instrumental music, and so on. The music in India began as a natural aspect of socio-religious life. The ministry said that we received a request from ICCR to play Indian art on airplanes operating in India and at airports.
The ICCR works for the Ministry of External Affairs had tweeted many proposals on Twitter discussed over a meeting, including music promotion in Indian-operated flights.
