In Gujarat's Modhera hamlet, which was dubbed the first community in the nation to be powered by solar energy 24 hours a day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled a 3D projection light and sound display at Surya Mandir which now is India's first heritage site to be entirely powered by solar energy kudos to the installation of Heritage Lighting.
The 3D display highlighting the significance of the centuries-old Sun temple constructed during the Chalukya era was attended by the prime minister after the ceremony. He also saw a cultural presentation highlighting the temple's history.
Earlier today, Modi performed Darshan and Pooja at the Modheshwari Mata Temple, then went to Surya Mandir. He also lay the cornerstone for a number of projects in Modhera in the Mehsana district.
The Prime Minister's office claims that Modhera, India's first village with continuous solar power, embodies his ambition for solarizing the town of sun temples. The project comprised of establishing a ground-mounted solar power facility as well as more than 1300 rooftop solar systems on homes and government structures, all of which are connected to battery energy storage devices (BESS).
According to a press release, the project will showcase how India's expertise in renewable energy can empower people at the grassroots.

We won't be paying for power anymore; instead, we'll sell it and make money off of it, Prime Minister Modi declared during the occasion. Residents used to get power from the government; however, with the installation of solar panels, people will now be able to generate their own electricity.
This empowering move made by the Prime Minister further instils India’s ability to grow and develop the nation in accordance to sustainable and future alternatives to power which not only helps the people but also aids in environmental causes for the future generations to seek an example out of.
