
Gairsain
Gairsain, a small town in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is often referred to as the future capital of the state. Nestled amidst the Himalayas, this quaint town is slowly gaining popularity as a tourist destination for its serene beauty and tranquil surroundings. Gairsain is situated at an elevation of around 1700 meters above sea level and is surrounded by lush green forests, gurgling streams and snow-capped peaks.
One of the major attractions of Gairsain is the Kaleshwar Mahadev temple, a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus. The temple is believed to be thousands of years old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Another must-visit place in Gairsain is the Patal Bhuvaneshwar cave temple, which is situated at a distance of around 60 km from the town. This ancient limestone cave temple is known for its natural rock formations and stalactites and stalagmites.
