Barkot

A little town called Barkot may be found in the Indian state of Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district. The town is renowned for its scenic beauty and religious significance and is located at an elevation of 1,220 meters above sea level. The Yamunotri and Gangotri Yatras, two of the most well-known Char Dham Yatra locations, use it as a base camp. 

Barkot has breathtaking views of the snow-covered Himalayan peaks and is surrounded by beautiful green woods. The town's apple orchards, which are dispersed throughout the hillsides, are another prominent feature. Guests may sample apples and other fruits including apricots, peaches, and plums that are cultivated nearby. Barkot is a notable religious place in addition to its natural beauty. The Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which honors Lord Shiva, is one of the town's several historic temples. The Pandavas are thought to have constructed the temple during the time of the Mahabharata. The Yamunotri Temple, which is situated in the neighboring town of Hanuman Chatti, is another well-known temple in Barkot. One of the four Char Dham Yatra stops, the shrine honors the goddess Yamuna. Barkot is a well-liked hiking location among thrill seekers. The village serves as the starting point for the moderate Yamunotri trek, which begins from Yamunotri. Before arriving in Yamunotri, the trip travels through a number of charming settlements, including Kharsali and Janki Chatti.
