Siddhi Vinayak Temple
Siddhi Vinatak temple is a Hindu temple located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is also known as Vinayaka or Siddhi Vinayak. The temple is one of the most popular and visited temples in Mumbai, attracting thousands of devotees every day.
The temple was built in 1801 by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil, who were childless and wanted to have a child. They promised to build a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha if their wish was granted. True to their word, they built the temple after they were blessed with a child. The temple has a small mandap (hall) with the shrine of Lord Ganesha and a tall tower. The idol of Lord Ganesha is made of a single black stone and is 2 feet 6 inches tall and 2 feet wide. The idol is said to be self-manifested (Swayambhu) and has a trunk facing left, which is considered to be a very auspicious sign. The temple also has a small Hanuman temple on the premises.
