Siddhi Vinatak temple is a Hindu temple located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is also known as Vinayaka or Siddhi Vinayak. The temple is one of the most popular and visited temples in Mumbai, attracting thousands of devotees every day.
The temple was built in 1801 by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil, who were childless and wanted to have a child. They promised to build a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha if their wish was granted. True to their word, they built the temple after they were blessed with a child. The temple has a small mandap (hall) with the shrine of Lord Ganesha and a tall tower. The idol of Lord Ganesha is made of a single black stone and is 2 feet 6 inches tall and 2 feet wide. The idol is said to be self-manifested (Swayambhu) and has a trunk facing left, which is considered to be a very auspicious sign. The temple also has a small Hanuman temple on the premises.
The temple is known for its Siddhi(fulfillment of wishes) and Riddhi (prosperity) powers and it is believed that Lord Ganesha fulfills the wishes of those who pray at the temple with pure devotion. The temple is open to visitors from morning 5:30 am to night 10:00 pm. On Tuesdays, the temple is open morning from 3:15 am to 11:59 pm. The temple is visited by thousands of people every day, and there is a long queue of devotees waiting to get a glimpse of Lord Ganesha and seek his blessings.
The temple also has a trust, which runs several charitable activities like providing education to children, helping the poor and needy, and running a hospital for the underprivileged. The temple trust also organizes various social and cultural programs to promote Indian culture and heritage.
