It is undoubtedly the most popular attraction on the tourist radar. This majestic monument is famous for its intimidating aspects and its serene view of the Arabian sea it provides. The monument was built during the 20th century to honor King George V and Queen Mary's arrival in Apollo Bunder during their 1911 journey to India. The foundation stone for the Gateway of India was laid on 31st March 1911.

The gateway of India is open to the public 24 hours every day of the week, mornings and evenings being the best time to visit the place as the weather during this time is very pleasant. Entry to this place is free of cost for everyone even though it has a pretty good security system. You can carry your camera to record the beauty of this place without any extra cost to pay. You will also find many photographers who sell their services to tourists. The Gateway of India is surrounded by a large open space and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to take a stroll, take in the views, and enjoy the sea breeze. The area around the monument is also home to several shops, restaurants, and street vendors, making it a lively and vibrant place to visit.

The Gateway of India is not only an architectural marvel but also a significant historical monument. It was the first thing that visitors to India, who arrived by sea, would see. The last British troops to leave India after the country's independence in 1947 also passed through the Gateway of India. Overall, The Gateway of India is a must-see attraction for any visitor to Mumbai. It offers a glimpse into India's rich history and culture, and its architectural beauty is sure to leave a lasting impression.
