Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is a breathtakingly beautiful protected area in Kerala, India. Nestled amidst the majestic Western Ghats, the sanctuary covers an area of 344 square kilometers and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.

The sanctuary is known for its lush green forests, sparkling waterfalls, and meandering streams. The hills, valleys, and plateaus offer a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape. The sanctuary is a haven for nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, and wildlife photographers.

One of the key attractions of the sanctuary is the presence of the Asiatic elephants. These gentle giants roam freely in the sanctuary and are a delight to watch. Other mammals that can be spotted in the sanctuary include tigers, leopards, wild dogs, sloth bears, and sambar deer. The sanctuary is also home to several species of birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

The sanctuary offers several trekking trails that take visitors through the dense forests and provide a glimpse of the stunning natural beauty. The Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in the sanctuary, is a popular trekking spot. The trek to the peak is a bit challenging but the view from the top is worth the effort.

The sanctuary is also famous for its waterfalls, with the Meenmutty Falls being the most popular. The waterfall is a three-tiered cascade that plunges down from a height of 300 meters. Visitors can take a dip in the cool waters of the falls and enjoy a picnic with family and friends.

The sanctuary is also known for its eco-tourism initiatives, with several eco-friendly cottages and tree houses available for visitors to stay in. These accommodations are designed to blend in with the natural surroundings and offer a unique experience to visitors.
