In the Indian state of Uttarakhand's Pauri Garhwal region sits the lovely hill town of Lansdowne. It is renowned for its quiet beauty and tranquil setting and is located 1,706 meters above sea level. The British viceroy Lord Lansdowne, who was charmed by the town's natural beauty, gave it its name.
