
Sri Chitra Art Gallery
Located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the Sri Chitra Art Gallery is an art museum that showcases a vast collection of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks from renowned artists across the country. The gallery was established in 1935 and is named after Sri Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the last king of Travancore.
The museum has three main wings: The Indian Wing, the International Wing, and the Contemporary Wing. The Indian Wing houses a wide range of paintings and sculptures from different parts of India, including traditional art forms like Tanjore, Mysore, and Rajasthani paintings, and wooden sculptures from South India. The International Wing displays works of art from Europe, the Far East, and other parts of the world, including original prints by famous artists like Rembrandt, Raja Ravi Varma, and Nicholas Roerich. The Contemporary Wing is dedicated to showcasing contemporary art and has a collection of modern artworks, including abstract paintings, sculptures, and mixed media installations.
