One of the largest seasonal saline wetland habitats, this animal sanctuary covers an area of about 7500 square kilometers. It has four steep rocky islands and is home to uncommon animal species. You can Take part in the thrilling vehicle safaris in hopes of spotting wildlife including flamingos, porcupines, wild asses, and others.
Here, the sanctuary's exterior is snow-white due to excessive salt buildup, attracting notice for its even greater distinctiveness. Due to its proximity to the Indo-Pak border, the Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary has some places that are off-limits to the general public. There are also a number of BSF regions. Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest "Flamingo City" in the world. This salty desert area is the only place in the world where flamingos can mate actively, drawing in hundreds of pink birds. The Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary attracts the Lesser Flamingos while housing primarily Bigger Flamingos. In addition to flamingos, 184 different bird species can be found here. Yet, Rann's swampy grounds are where you'd find the fabled Flamingo City.
The Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary is best visited between the months of October and March when the weather is nice and free of the oppressive Kutch heat. Going "flamingo viewing" at the Rann of Kutch in the winter is also highly recommended.
