Namaste fellow yatris! 🙏
Having done the Chardham Yatra myself, let me share what I genuinely feel about these two months- honestly, they are quite different from each other.
Early June is still a solid window to go. The weather is manageable, roads are mostly clear, and you get a slightly quieter experience compared to the May rush when everyone and their relatives seem to show up at the same time! Temperatures are comfortable during the day, though nights at Kedarnath and Badrinath will still make you reach for that extra blanket.
By mid to late June though, the monsoon starts knocking on the door. You may get lucky, or you may not and in the Himalayas, that gamble is not worth taking lightly.
July is deep monsoon territory. The mountains don't care about your travel plans- landslides can block roads overnight, trek paths become slippery and dangerous, and even helicopter services get grounded for days. Many pilgrims who attempt July end up waiting at dharamshalas for days hoping the weather clears. It can turn a spiritual journey into a stressful one.
If your heart is set on these months, aim for the first two weeks of June. Otherwise, September to mid-October is genuinely the hidden gem of Chardham season- post-monsoon greenery, cooler air, manageable crowds, and a deeply peaceful atmosphere. get best deals on Chardham Yatra Packages in Month of September and October. India Bon Voyage
Is the new Kedarnath ropeway actually worth it or will kill the charm?
