First outdoor Museums open in Delhi Nestled within the bustling heart of Delhi, Shaheedi Park emerges as an emblem of reverence and remembrance. This serene sanctuary, inaugurated with great honour by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, serves as a bridge between the past and the present, inviting visitors to reflect on the sacrifices of freedom fighters while finding solace in its peace.
It is set up by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) which is spread over 4.5 Acres of land.
The park has been curated by 10 artists, collaborating with 700 artisans over a span of six months, following the Waste to Art concept. Reports indicate that approximately 250 tonnes of discarded materials have been utilized for the park's construction. It opened for the public on 9 August 2023. Before Shaheedi Park two parks were there in Delhi based on waste material. First is Waste to Wonder Park which represents the 7 wonders of the world and another one is Bharat Darshan Park which is a park showcasing replicas of famous monuments of India built of scrap materials.
