National Tourism Day is observed just before the Republic Day & celebrated on 25th January every year by Government of India. Many Indians are still unaware of the day while the day is very important to celebrate. Tourism plays an important role in country’s economy and income of people related to sector. The day is dedicated to apprehend the beauty of India with its diversity and importance of tourism.
This Year, Ministry of Tourism, GoI is going to celebrate the Day under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav- The Grand celebration launched by Prime Minister on 75 years of India’s Independence. The theme of the national tourism day 2022 is Rural and Community Centric Tourism. As per information shared by Government, MoT will lead the event with partners as Railways Ministry, Cultural ministry etc.
In this context, meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary of MoT, Mr. Arvind Singh to facilitate the planning of activities to be undertaken for the upcoming event.
Week before, Tourism Ministry has also taken part at the Indian Pavilion of EXPO2020 Dubai to promote Incredible India. For promoting Indian Tourism worldwide, the government is bringing various campaigns like Incredible India & SATTE to attract global tourists and show what India has to offer them. The income generated by the tourism sector in India has been apparent affect on income level of individuals.
Theme of National Tourism Day 2022
The National Tourism Day 2022 will go for 1 month during which ministry and state governments will organize various events to celebrate the glorious day. The theme of National tourism day is always related to India’s diversity and culture and how people should be grateful for all of that. The MoT also organizes competitions such as poster-making essay writing debate competitions on the national level in which the winner is awarded a prize. Previous year the day was celebrated virtually because of pandemic. Apart from that many small institutions take part to spread the awareness and significance of inland tourism.
India is a country with rich heritage and many unexplored destinations but such events will help in creating awareness & promote Indian tourism digitally.
