Tourists that are staying in Sam sand dunes will now be able to enjoy helicopter rides. This initiative was recently launched by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), they have reached an agreement with A1 helicopter service provider for the joyrides, which have begun on an experimental basis. These rides started on December 27 and can be taken from Samdhani, Jaisalmer.
District Collector Tina Dabi said that the tourism industry in the district will gain a new identity. She also mentioned that tourists will soon be able to enjoy helicopter rides, as well as parasailing and paramotoring, which will be a great addition to the tourist package.
RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore stated that the helicopter joyride has begun on an experimental basis at Sam. There is an ambitious plan to connect other tourist destinations via air routes to form a tourism circuit.He stated that religious, wildlife, and heritage circuits will be developed so that tourists can see more places in less time.
In addition, the chairman revealed that the minimum ticket price per tourist has been set at INR 7,000, and 200 tourists will be able to use this service via 40 trips per day. He also stated that the joyride will be available in two-time slots of 5 and 15 minutes.
According to the Minister of State for Tourism Murari Lal Meena, tourism has a lot of potential in Rajasthan. He stated that this joyride will go down in history, that the tourism industry will benefit from it, and that the state's economic situation will improve. RTDC managing director Vijay Pal Singh stated that the RTDC has previously provided tourism services via road and rail, but tourism via air route is a novel initiative.
