In a bid to keep an eye on the beaches of Goa, the chief minister of the state recently introduced a new mobile app, ‘Beach Vigil’ Friday. The app aims for the holistic management of the beaches that will benefit both the travelers and those who work in the beach tourism sector, said CM Sawant adding that the collaboration of IT and the tourism sector shall open many avenues in the future.
With this app, the users can report violations or any illegal activity directly to the tourism department.
He also said that the development of tourism and safety is an all-around and collective effort. With these types of Apps, the ecosystem shall enhance in the future.
During the launch, Goa IT and tourism minister Rohan Khaunte was also presented at the occasion and said that by using the app, Drishti workers, police and other stakeholders will be able to raise issues for safeguarding tourists.
The government is in the process of beach cleaning initiatives. The app will cover everything from reporting illegal hawkers and illegal massage services to beach cleanliness, Khaunte said.
Earlier, the CM Sawant distributed certificates to newly registered start-ups and disbursed incentives under the start-up scheme. The IT minister has enumerated the start-up policy very clearly, and it will benefit the existing and upcoming start-ups in the state, said Sawant.
Khaunte said that the state government plans to make the coastal state among the top 25 destinations for start-ups in Asia by 2025.
