Gangasagar Mela 2022: HC allows the pilgrims to attend the event with proper COVID Guidelines

The Calcutta High Court allowed to attend the Gangasagar Mela 2022 with new COVID protocols amid rising COVID situations. Pilgrims can attend the event with valid RT-PCR test done within 72 hours, both doses vaccine certificate. 

The event begins on 8th January and run till 16th January. The Chief Minister if West Bengal said on the occasion of Fair, “I request the administration not to send too many people to Mela. I also urge people not to overcrowd the Mela with vehicles. Attend the event with using double mask & following strict COVID guidelines. 
Gangasagar Mela is one of the largest religious gathering of devotees in eastern India and attracts lakhs of people to take a dip at confluence of Ganga and Bay of Bengal. Most people try to take the holy dip at the occasion of Makar Sankranti.

This day is very auspicious day and as per Hindu Mythology, Gangasagar is must visit after all Chardham tirth. (Sab Tirth Bar bar, Gangasagar Ekbar). Every year pilgrims from state and across the country show their bravery and devotion with taking a holy dip in icy cold water at the fair. To witness the myriad of cultural and traditional aspects amid diversity of religions. Many pilgrims reside their for 7 days and make a temporary home to attend the rituals and holy dip everyday of fair.
