Free Entry to heritage and ancient monuments of India till 15th August

On occasion of 75 years of independence, India is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav throughout the year. The celebration begun in republic day month and is continuing in August month. Different department, states are celebrating the nation pride year in different way. Har ghar Tiranga, ghar ghar tiranga is also a major campaign to run between 13th to 15th August. To boost tourism and awareness about heritage of India, ASI department had announced for free entry to all heritage and ancient monuments sites from 5th August to 15th August. 

"No fee shall be charged at all the ticketed Centrally protected monuments / Archaeological Sites & Remains in the Second Schedule of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1959 as well as all Archaeological Site Museums from 5 August, 2022 to15 August, 2022," the ASI said in a circular issued on 3rd August.


As per reports, ASI will unfurl Tricolour at 150 heritage sites across India to mark the celebration of Azadi 75. Different programs such as plantation drive, school samvaads, awareness campaign will run among children.

Besides Indians, the free entry will be extended to foreign nationals as well. The list is long and time is enough to prepare your list and have a tour of cultural heritage of India.
The list of heritage sites in Gujarat includes Rani Ki Vav, Sun Temple, Monuments at Champaner, Junagarh Buddhist caves. Kondapur (Hyderabad), Charminar (Hyderabad), and Golconda Fort are site list of Hyderabad. Agra can also be a great destination to celebrate the independence week with free entry to Taj Mahal, Red Fort. Some of monuments will be lit up as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - the Agra Fort, Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra, Fatehpur Sikri and Itmad-ud-daulah. There may be some swachhta campaigns and exhibitions as well at Agra Fort & Akbar’s Tomb.

As per reports, there are 3,600 ASI-protected monuments in the country out of which 116 monuments charge an entry fee. The states are 17 in Uttar Pradesh, 16 in Maharashtra, 12 in Karnataka, 10 in Delhi, eight in Madhya Pradesh, six in Gujarat and seven in Tamil Nadu. (News Credit: https://www.outlookindia.com
