After the suspension of two long years, Indo-Nepal bus service is resuming for the public’s convenience to travel with low-cost fares. The bus will traverse through North Bengal to Nepal to help people with a distance connecting both the parts through one route for passengers for tourism, medical or religious purposes.
A private bus service with North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) have started the journey from India’s Siliguri to Nepal’s Kathmandu. The route is said to be from Siliguri-Kakkarvitta-Kathmandu. State Transport Minister Firhad Hakim had attended and inaugurated the service for action.
According to reports, the bus will be available regularly from Tenzing Norgay bus terminal at 2PM and is said to reach Kathmandu by 6AM the next day. Another journey is said to commence from Siliguri at 3PM and reach Kathmandu by 7AM. A total distance of 615Kms will be covered in the bus journey carrying 40 passengers at once.
The cost of the tickets is said to be around Rs.1500 which is quite affordable according to the people as well. The travel time is also being cut short by a huge margin, helping people travel between both places with ease. Many individuals who travel to Siliguri, Darjeeling, and other nearby districts of Sikkim for business purposes may benefit from this bus. This bus service will promote tourism between India and Nepal. The bus will be useful for both tourist and medical emergencies. Exploring holy sites will be made easier by this new bus service.
It is also suspected that another bus service from Siliguri to Bangladesh shortly, will commence as the West Bengal government is planning on it. Before carrying out the proposal, the administration is awaiting Bangladesh's NOC. They will start carrying out their strategy as soon as they have received approval.
The bus service will contribute a lot towards tourism and will see a surge in Indo-Nepal tourism after the service has been put in place for the public.
