Here is good news for trekkers! Be ready to enjoy the beauty of the most visited place in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, the Valley of Flowers, which is all set to begin for tourists from June 1, 2022, this year. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the natural wonder, and a breathtaking place take you to the home of colorful flowers such as marigolds and orchids, which falls under Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve and has several birds and animals in the region. Other species of flowers as the blue Poppy, Cobra lily, Brahma kamal, alpine flower meadows can be seen blooming here. The full bloom time of flowers depends on melting of glaciers. If you are planning for a trekking tour in Uttarakhand, pack your bags and go off to the mountains as it can only be done by October 31. After this, the trek will shut & travelers are prohibited to enter the area.
The eye-catching and spectacular background of this place is more energetic and active as soon as the monsoon approaches, surrounded by Nepal and Tibet in the northern state of Uttarakhand. The Himalayan Valley is blessed with rare or exotic Himalayan aromas at a great height & has more than 300 diverse varieties of alpine flowers that emerge as a brilliant carpet of color besides a hilly snow-covered backdrop. But the most beautiful flower to witness here is 'Brahma Kamal' also known as the state flower of Uttarakhand.
Valley of Flowers is the best trekking destination for adventure lovers, where one can indulge in various trekking activities like short walks, rock climbing or mountaineering, and much more.
The most famous trek path is the one from Govindghat to Ghangria via Hemkund Sahib, where one can get a chance to explore Joshimath and the entire flowers park. The trek goes through some dense forests with many lovely bridges, glaciers, and waterfalls on the way along with the Pushpawati River.
Those who look to undertake this trek must know that it is about 17 km long. The trekkers start their journey from Govindghat to Ghangaria, a tiny hamlet 3 km from the valley. To go to the valley, visitors are required to obtain a permit from the Forest Department at Ghangaria with Rs. 150 for Indians, whereas Rs. 600 for foreigners per person and only valid for up to three days. Overnight camping is forbidden at this place.
Considered the most beautiful spot in India, the Valley of Flowers attracts several trekkers or travelers to witness some eye-catching spectacles like cascading waterfalls and wild streams on their way to the valley. According to the Uttarakhand Tourism, the flowers in the valley can be best viewed between May and October.
