Amid the wave of religious tourism everywhere in India and abroad, Goa is all set to offer tourists a new experience of Ghat Aarti from May 2026. So, Goa is not only for honeymoon or Genz fun, but also gonna to be perfect for family holidays and spiritual tour.
Key Highlights:
New Ghat Aarti Project at Naroa, North Goa on Mandovi River
Project Status: Begin with expected Completion Date in May 2026
Expected facilities: Riverfront area with space for daily aarti rituals, seating area for visitors, space for devotees to take part in aarti ceremony.
The project is announced by Goa Tourism Minister with a motive to expand Goa tourism beyond beaches. As per the statement- Goa is not just about sand and sun. Our rivers, temples, and rituals are an integral part of our culture. This ghat will let people experience that side of Goa.
This initiative is taken to boost religious tourism and attract tourists to delve into the traditional aspect of Goa. Aarti at the sacred riverbanks like Varanasi, Haridwar, Nashik, Prayagraj are gaining increased attention by visitors. Mandovi River will be soon added to the list of best tourist sites in Goa to must visit.
Naroa Village is home to Shree Saptakoteshwar Temple, rebuilt by Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is a lesser-known religious site in Western India. To renovate the riverfront, project is awarded to the company for better infrastructure and modern facilities.
Not only religious tourism, Goa is also focused on growing wellness and medical tourism through Ayurveda. Progress to this can be seen with the recently established All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa that is growing rapidly as a key centre for Ayurveda, research and patient care.
