Beautifying Delhi Streets for G-20 Summit with Over 60 lakh Graceful Flowerpots

Official Announcement: As per Raj Niwas Statement on last Sunday, during preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit next month, approximately 675,000 pots of flowering plants and foliage are set to embellish designated roads and venues throughout Delhi. These vibrant botanical arrangements are aimed at creating an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming environment for the event.

Prominent areas that have been enhanced with potted plants include Sardar Patel Marg, Dhaulan Kuan-IGI Airport Road, Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, ITPO, Delhi Gate, Rajghat, India Gate C-Hexagon, Mandi House, Palam Technical Area, Akbar Road roundabout, among others.

Following a preparatory meeting led by Lt. Governor V K Saxena, instructions were provided to pinpoint the responsible agencies for this initiative. These entities were tasked with sourcing a designated quantity of plants and pots, preferably from their own nurseries, as part of the effort. Officials statement said.

This led to a harmonious collaboration among five departments or agencies responsible for acquiring and situating these potted plants. The LG took a hands-on approach, overseeing the work's advancement and examining various pathways over the past few months, said an official.

While the forest department and the Delhi Parks and Garden Society Placed 3.75 lakh plants (1.25 lakh foliage and 2.5 lakh flowers), the PWD placed 50,000 (35,000 foliage and 15,000 flowerings), the DDA 1 lakh (85,000 foliage and 15,000 flowerings), the NDMC 1 lakh and the MCD 50,000 pots, the official added.

According to the official Statement: With 4.5lakh potted foliage already positioned along 61 roads, the remaining potted flowering plants are scheduled for installation during the first week of September. This strategic timing ensures that the plants will be in vibrant full bloom throughout the entire duration of the G-20 Summit. G-20 delegates will also have a great chance to enjoy the Udyan Utsav at President’s House in Delhi which is happening for the first time in months of August and September.
