Tripura Government is ready to host 2nd edition of India Bangladesh Tourism Festival from April 17 at the premises of Ujjayanta Palace, also known as Tripura State Museum. The festival will be 3 days long and will be attended by tour operators, hotel owners, tourism officials, artisans, writers and intellectuals form India and Bangladesh.
At the festival, prominent artists from both countries will take part in mega cultural program and inaugural ceremony. On April 18, tour operators from Bangladesh, North-East India and West Bengal are scheduled to visit important tourist destinations in the state, especially India-Bangladesh Maitri Udyan at Chottakhola in Belonia, Chabimura in Amarpur, Neermahal in Melaghar, Wildlife Sanctuary in Sepahijala and Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur. An event of sampling the delicious indigenous cuisines of Tripura is also included in the event.
On April 19, tourism officials can also discuss on roadmap for developing a tourist circuit in the region. The ideas of tourism expansion come from recent developments of railway connectivity in Tripura and shorter road link with Bangladesh that can offer unique opportunity of diverse culture to tourists. Highlights of joint countries tour will be beautiful sea beaches of South Bangladesh, drive over bridge built over river Feni, archaeological sites, Hindu and Buddhist temples and captivating hills.
The agenda of the meet of tourism representative between two countries will be to expand the tourism industry and trade between two countries. As per reports, Tripura tourism Department Secretary said, "In the two-phases of Swadesh Darshan scheme, tourism spots and archaeological sites in more than 25 places in Tripura are being further developed. Various tourism infrastructures would also be either upgraded or to be newly constructed to facilitate the tourists.”
