Ropeways transform tourism to particular destinations by a lot. On Monday, a meeting was held by the Uttarakhand Tourism Board Council to acquire detailed project reports for two major destinations for a ropeway establishment & construction.
Tourism to Uttarakhand is at all-time high but there may be some difficulties due to extreme weather and climate conditions. On Monday, Uttarakhand’s Tourism Minister Mr. Satpal Maharaj informed that work on two aspiring ropeway projects- Sonprayag to Kedarnath and Govind Ghat to Hemkund Sahib will soon begin.
The projects were under development from a long time to help tourism and tourists enjoy the places without any difficulties. Both places being pilgrimages close to the Hindu religion, work on the projects have shown fruition as the projects have been prepared. The estimated cost of Sonprayag-Kedarnath has said to been Rs. 1200 crores for a distance of 13kms. While the other project, Govind Ghat-Hemkund Sahib is said to be approximately Rs. 850 crores for a distance of 12.5kms.
The project is said to involve foliage of 26 hectares of forest land for Kedarnath and 27 hectares of forest land for Hemkund Sahib. Government is said to have been transferred the land already with the approval of State Wildlife Board. The organisation has passed on reports to the National Wildlife Board for further approval.
The council has also showed interest in transforming one of the most popular hill stations, Auli, located in Garhwal region into an International Winter Sports destination. An amount of Rs. 1.50 crores have been set aside to aid and repair Auli into an even bigger and better place for tourists to travel to.
Survey work for five more ropeway projects- Panchoti to Baurari, Balti Bend to Khalia Top, Rishikesh to Neelkanth, Auli to Gorson and Ranibagh to Hanuman Gadi Temple have also begun by the National Highways Authority of India.
These projects can help transform these major attractions by helping with accessibility, convenience and cost-effectiveness. Such initiatives by government is always good for the people and society. Look forward for more such informative news.
