Jammu & Kashmir Unveils 75 New Havens for Religious Tourism

Jammu and Kashmir presents awe-inspiring opportunities to delve into lush greenery, picturesque vistas, and breathtaking natural wonders, and immerses you in the embrace of nature. Another compelling factor drawing countless enthusiasts to Jammu and Kashmir annually is the Amaranth Yatra. People also visit the Vaishno Devi for worship. Presently, the authorities have embarked on substantial endeavours to elevate the realm of spiritual tourism in this region.

This happened because the valley had a lot of visitors travel last year 2022 more than 1 crore, according to the government. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, who is in charge of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, talked positively about the progress made in the region's tourism industry during an event called "Jashn-e-Adab—Cultural Karavaan."

He also said Tourism in Jammu & Kashmir is thriving, and this success can be attributed to various factors. One notable factor was the G-20 Tourism Working Group meeting held in Srinagar, which Syed Abid Rashid Shah, the Tourism Secretary, described as a "game changer." This meeting significantly increased the number of foreign tourists visiting the region, marking a significant achievement for the valley. Shah also highlighted the positive outcomes of the government's efforts to showcase lesser-known destinations, with 75 offbeat places being promoted to celebrate the local culture.

Demonstrating the government's commitment to showcasing the enchantment of Jammu and Kashmir, Shah shared that a group from the Tourism Department was currently in Ahmedabad on a promotional journey, yielding notable attention. He emphasized that comparable fruitful campaigns had previously been executed in Cochin and Chennai.

With these diverse initiatives converging to fortify the tourism sector, the outlook of achieving unprecedented tourist numbers for the year appears highly achievable. As the region extends its welcome to visitors from near and far, the prospects for Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism industry continue to hold great promise.
