Jai Ram Thakur, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, has opened a heliport in Rampur in the Shimla district. He continued by saying that the administration has also undertaken a number of steps to entice visitors to uncharted territory and is striving to build a network of heliports to enhance the air route network in the state.

The construction at the Shimla Heliport along the Sanjauli Bypass Road, Baddi in the Solan district, and Rampur has already been finished, covered by the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) plan, he added. According to reports, operations for helicopter service will shortly begin at these locations.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that work was nearly finished on the heliport at Kangnidhar in Mandi and that another one was being built in Manali.
The CM continued by stating that flights were already running three times per week and that heli-taxi services on the Shimla-Rampur-Shimla route began in December 2021. He added that each passenger must pay 3275 INR for the one-way fee.
He noted that the administration has just made a proposal to add Chamba and Reckong Peo to its list of destinations for helicopter service.
According to sources, the state is home to 64 helipads, while 38 more are now under construction, the chief minister stated. According to him, flight service on the Delhi-Shimla-Delhi route was also being reinstated.
Meanwhile, the CM also inaugurated and laid the groundwork for 24.66 Crore worth of projects in the Rampur assembly segment. He also promised a grant of Rs. 20 Lakh for the development of a press club.
