Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has launched a beta version of the Digiyatra App on the remarkable day of 75th Independence Day which will facilitate travelers with a new digital travel experience. The DigiYatra project by Central Government is taking shape under which the initial one is facial recognition of travelers and paperless journeys in Airports. Delhi became the first airport in India with facial recognition feature
Details of DigiYatra App:
DIAL stated that the beta version of the DIGIYATRA App has been launched on an android platform where passengers can complete their biometric registration. Users have to provide their contact number, Aadhhar Card Information, selfie, vaccination details, and scanned copy of boarding pass. The app will be linked to the boarding pass and hence the traveler can go through several checkpoints with contactless procedures using the facial recognition feature.
Major Benefits of using DigiYatra App:
• Save time- Passengers have not to produce their boarding pass at every checkpoint which will reduce wait time and human involvement
• Real-time track of the volume of passengers at a particular airport
• Mapping the passenger with PNR will enhance security
• Cost-Effective for service providers and consumers both
• Contactless and paperless system
How to Use DigiYatra App:
1) Download the android version of the app
2) Registration in App with basic biometric details
3) Create a Digi Yatra ID
4) Verification of Aadhaar details after which photo of the passenger will get updated in a central system
5) Passenger will scan his/her boarding pass at E-gate built at terminal
6) On scanning the bar code/ QR code the system will validate the passenger details and flight details.
7) Digi Yatra ID will verify the identity by Face Recognition.
8) On successful verification of Ticket and Digi Yatra ID, e-Gate will open. Also, Face with ticket PNR is made into a single token for the rest of the journey at the airport.
9) Passengers will gain entry to the security area and aircraft Boarding through e-Gate operated on the Facial Recognition System
DIAL had conducted a trial of the app & installed it for Terminal 3 in the initial phase. In the coming weeks, the app will also be available on the iOS platform for seamless process execution.
As per reports, the first phase of the app will be implemented in Hyderabad, Varanasi, Pune, Kolkata & Vijaywada.
